And the world goes round

I'm having one of my dizzy weeks this week.

I said "dizzy" not "ditzy".

Actually, I have vertigo. Vertigo is a feeling that the room is spinning. When I turn my head a certain way or try walking while looking straight ahead, the whole world starts spinning and I start meandering from side to side. Makes me look like I'm tipsy.

I said "tipsy", not "ditzy". Give it a rest.

On my way across the street to work this morning, I walked with a wide stance, kind of rolling like you use to keep your balance on a ship.

I started singing to myself, "What do you do with a drunken sailor? What do you do with a drunken sailor?"

Then I couldn't get the song out of my head.

No, it doesn't prove I'm ditzy.

1, 2, 3 ... 3, 2, 1

I watched 3 new shows on TV this week that held promise of being watchable. Sort of. Well, some of them did. Maybe.

The Good Wife was a rerun so I tried The Forgotten on Tuesday night. It's about a team of amateur detectives but I'm not sure what the premise of the show is. I don't know who 'the forgotten' are. Or if I did know I forgot. The titles for all the episodes have John or Jane in them and I think that refers to John Doe and Jane Doe. So I guess this team is trying to find the real identities of a new Mr. or Ms. Doe every week. Not a bad premise for a show. I may watch it again, but I heard that ABC ordered a limited number of episodes so maybe not.

I've seen two episodes of The Human Target on FOX. The Human Target is a quirky bodyguard and security episode. Not as quirky as one of his co-workers, but enough that it could either be interesting or annoying as the series evolves. One point in their favor, the third guy on the show is not quirky or weird or overly anything so he tends to balance out the other two. This show has promise, but this last episode was a little far-fetched. The Human Target had to fly the plane upside down and it got stuck that way till he could figure out a way to get it right-side-up again. But that wasn't the really absurd part. What was unbelievable was the number of empty seats on the plane. When's the last time you took a flight anywhere that had every other seat unoccupied?

The Deep End wasn't all that good. Just another show on ABC's Thursday line up about a bunch of young white collar professionals working at the same office. And not very lovable people at that. Or very bright. Or very nice. But horney? Yes, of course. Just like every other lawyer and doctor show on TV the last few years.

Celebrate

I like to celebrate the small joys of life. Mostly by sitting on my kiester and doing nothing. Which is the same thing I do when I'm not celebrating the small joys of life.

I digress, but a question just popped into my head. "What is the opposite of celebrating?" The first thing I thought of was "drinking" but since that's what some people do when they are celebrating it wasn't very descriptive so I Googled it. One site said "Mourn", but I didn't mean "not celebrate" to that extreme. Another site said "disregard, forget, ignore, neglect, overlook". That's not quite it either. Those words imply that you have something to celebrate but you don't. I mean what word do you use when you don't see anything to celebrate.

Anyway, the small joy today is that Indiana has risen above the freezing mark on the thermometer. Not just warmer than 'freeze your ass off' degrees, but warmer than freezing, warmer than 40 degrees. WhooooHoooo! We're having a heat wave. And on a Saturday!

It's cloudy and overcast and depressing looking at 8:30 but still - it's not snowing and it's not freezing. A little sunshine wouldn't hurt, but you take what you get when it comes to weather. And celebrating.

Just take a few minutes out of your day

Pray for the people of Haiti who were hit by a massive earthquake yesterday. Pray for the aid workers who have rushed in supplies, set up medical tents, are patrolling the city, and are helping everyway they can. Pray for the families who are desperate to hear news of their loved ones. Pray for the leaders - the government leaders, the church leaders, the community leaders. Pray that God grant them all the strength to get through this.

And send money to your favorite aid organization. If you don't have one, select one from here Haiti Earthquake Relief

Feelings

My horror-scope for the week ends with "Do not be afraid".

Well, I wasn't before I read that.

This little itch

It is really cold here in Indiana. I don't mean just usual winter cold, but REALLY, REALLY cold. I ought to be able to wear jeans at least 1 size smaller by the middle of next week because it's cold enough to freeze my butt off!

Why is it that one always seem to get an itch between the shoulder blades that's just low enough you can't get to it with your right arm reaching around your head and over your shoulders and just high enough that you can't scratch it with your left arm twisted behind your back and stretching as high as humanly possible?

I've had one of those itches since it turned so blasted cold. I tried to reach it with lotion on the end of a wooden spoon but I missed the spot and got it above my left shoulder blade. The skin there went "ssssssssssllllllllluuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrpppppppppp" and the lotion disappeared. Then the area next to it cried, "My turn! My turn!"

So I put some more lotion there and there and there and everywhere I put the lotion my skin went "ssssssssssllllllllluuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrpppppppppp" so now I'm out of lotion. For a little while my skin was soft and content except for this spot between my shoulder blades that is just low enough I can't reach it from the top with my right hand or from below with my left hand.
